Derrick was born and raised in Philadelphia Pennsylvania his mother and father preceded him and he always kept them in his heart constantly praying for peace and blessings on their souls. Derrick was a happy spiritual soul. His religious beliefs were universal and he had a kind heart and always concerned about others. He would always go out of his way to help others in their time of need.
He had nine siblings and grew up with five siblings. Derrick Graduated from University City High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and became a certified paralegal.
Derrick struggled with his illness for many years. However, he never complained or asked for help and always kept a big smile and a laugh on his face. He also had his deep soul-searching moments in his life. Rickey always displayed a knack for problem-solving. He lived his life though simple pleasures, laughing, chatting with family and friends. Never missing any family gatherings. He had an uncanny ability to reach people in a very deep positive way.
The family constantly prayed for him and will truly miss him. He Expressed appreciation for our prayers and towards the end of his life he said that HE would pray for the family.
The Family respected Rickey’s wishes to be cremated and have a simple memorial with no viewing.
He is survived by two brother, 4 sisters and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
May he be forgiven of all his sins and blessed with a special place in paradise where he will be reunited with his loved ones, With the permission of The Creator, The Lord of all the Worlds. Amen
