Elsie C Snook 70 of Pottstown PA passed away on July 10, 2018 after a valiant 6 month fight for survival. She leaves behind her loving husband of 34 years, Douglass Snook.  Elsie is also survived by her sons Lawrence “Larry” Cerrito III and partner Jane Murray of San Diego CA, Timothy Cerrito and partner Chana Sylvester of Pottstown PA, and two step sons Jeremy Snook and his wife Alice of Lake Mary, FL, and Corey Snook and his wife Wendy of Glendora, NJ.

Elsie had nine grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally: Jacob, Joshua, Luke, and Lily Cerrito; Kayla and Corey Snook Jr; Benjamin, Nicholas, and Joseph Snook.

She also leaves behind her siblings Patricia and her husband Dr. Gary Liesner of Collegeville PA, Michael Ritchie and his partner Elaine Veasey of Deptford NJ, and George Ritchie of Philadelphia PA and her Aunt Sister Rosemary Ritchie.  She was predeceased by brothers John Jay Ritchie III and Gerard Shawn Ritchie.  Larry Cerrito Jr and his wife Susan Cerrito were also crucial parts of her support system.

Elsie was born on June 9, 1948 to Clare (Scollon) and John Ritchie Jr. in Philadelphia PA.  Elsie married Douglass on July 1, 1984 at Sturbridge Village, MA.  She graduated from St Hubert’s Catholic High School for Girls in Philadelphia in 1966.  She went on to start a family and went back to further her education at Dean Junior College in Franklin MA, graduating in 1992 with a 4.0 average.

She moved to Plainville MA with Douglass in 1983.  With her outgoing personality she quickly made new friends and planned many social events, including her infamous monthly “Gourmet Dinner Club.”  Everyone got dressed up and one couple did everything for the dinner, soup to nuts.

Elsie loved to travel. She and Douglass traveled in Europe and with friends, took many cruises including Alaska, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.

In 2003 Elsie and Douglass returned to the Philadelphia area and bought a home in Pottstown PA.  She wanted to be near her Grandchildren.  Elsie was everything a Grandmother could be: loving, nurturing, mentoring, and she loved to spoil them.  Her Grandchildren will deeply miss her.

A celebration of Elsie’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St James Lutheran, 93 Kugler Rd, Limerick, PA 19468.   Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 10:00- 11:00 AM at church.

One of her last words to Douglass was: “We had a good run, didn’t we?”  Yes, sweet heart, we had a good run.
