Donald D. Baker age 91 of Malvern

Donald D. Baker, Malvern, PA, passed away April 23, 2020 at age 91. He was born 7/31/1928 in Media, PA and raised by Mabel & Frank Baker, until his father passed away when Don was 8 years old. He then attended & graduated from Girard College, after which he went to U. of Penn, where he graduated from the Wharton School of Business.  Don worked as a manager in the Cost Accounting Department for Smith, Kline & French—now Glaxo Smith Kline Pharmaceuticals in Philadelphia. Some of his responsibilities included worldwide travels setting up Cost Accounting Systems in different countries, where SKF/GSK were establishing new locations.  He retired after 30 years employment and started his own company- BBS Associates, selling a kitchen design program. In 2000, he joined his daughter with her business, creating catalogs on the program.  They were regional representatives for a Canadian based company. Don enjoyed sports- personally – as a football player for a Philadelphia based community team - and as a skier in PA & Vermont. He  taught his family how to ski and had fun on vacations.  Don was a bowler at the Devon Lanes and won many trophies.  He was also very involved as a Coach and then Manager of the “Indians” in the Berwyn – Paoli Little League for many years.  He was very proud of a major recognition plaque they awarded him for his efforts with the young folks and on behalf of the League.  Don was an ardent Philadelphia Eagles fan with season tickets for many years and then cheering them on from his TV chair. He also enjoyed watching the Phillies, Flyers and the Sixers. Throughout his adult life, he enjoyed Ocean City, N J - initially with his friends from school & business and then with his family. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, daughter: Carol L. Testa, her husband, Stephen, and granddaughters, Devon & Haley.  His son, D. Douglass Baker, passed away in 1995.  Private memorial services will be held in the future. Attachments area
