Born in Drexel Hill, Pa on November 15, 1957 she is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert and her four children, Joseph Bateman, Michael Bateman, Melanie Bateman and Shaun Bateman. She adopted all four of her children and also fostered many children in her home throughout the years.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Janelle, Henry, Oliver and Sofia as well as 10 siblings, Billy, Susan, Mary, Charlotte, Kathy, Joey, Theresa, Eddie and Patrick.
Karen attended Saint Andrew’s Elementary School and Archbishop Pendergast High School. She also attended Delaware County Community College and Widener University, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Business and was continuing her education to achieve her Bachelor’s Degree on Business at Widener University.
She worked as an EKG technician at Lankenau Hospital, but her most rewarding job was being a homemaker, always making sure that her family was always being taken care of and loved. She enjoyed cooking and hosting Holiday dinners. Our favorite family recipes were her homemade Chocolate Chip cookies and Iced Tea. She was always sharing her favorite recipes with her friends. Spending time with her grandchildren, especially helping them with their homework brought her the most joy.
Karen liked reading Mystery and Romance novels. She also loved to watch Figure Skating and Gymnastic competitions. She also loved Reality TV, especially American Idol, America’s Got Talent and any cooking shows.
Karen was the most loving mother who gave endless, unconditional love and had a heart of gold. She was always willing to help others. She had the biggest heart ever known.
