Megan Elizabeth Marina Bright died peacefully at home in Ardmore, PA on Thursday, January 14th, 2021 after a long illness. She is survived by grandsons Christian Brooks and Ricardo Gibson (Ricky); brothers Uton and Baldwin Bright; sister Onetta Leonhart; nieces Kelly-Ann, Leonora, and Keisha Douglas; nephews Gorman , Neil, Samuel, David, Witcliff Jr., Charles, Hugh, and Kevin. She was preceded in death her brother Witcliff Bright and beloved daughter, Hilary Grace Bright Dufresne.

Megan was born on Wednesday, March 6th, 1940 in Bunkers Hill, Trelawny to Gwendolyn Bright (Johnson) and Samuel V. Bright. She attended Unity Basic School, after which, she relocated to Kingston in order to further her education and pursue employment opportunities. After a short stint in Kingston, Megan migrated to Montreal, Canada, where she became a citizen and worked as a nurse’s assistant. It was in Montreal, on January 27, 1970 that she gave birth to her daughter Grace, who then became the most important and treasured part of her life. Megan’s life passage took her next to New York, where she lived and worked for several years, before moving to Ardmore to be closer to her mom and stepdad who were already established there. She resided in Ardmore until the time of her passing.

Megan was hard working, stubborn, yet kind, gracious, fun loving, and a strict disciplinarian. Her siblings and all the children can attest to that fact. She enjoyed “showing-off” her limited familiarity with the French language to anyone who would listen while she baked a serious fruit cake. She loved music and would sing at every opportunity. Her favorite artistes were Brook Benton, Sam Cooke, Nat King Cole, Ben E King, and Kenny Rogers. Auntie Megan, as she is affectionately called, will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.
