Updated: Dec 3, 2019

Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother...

Teresa Bowen or “Meme” as she was known to her many friends and family over the years of Chester Springs passed away on November 19, 2019. She was 89 and survived by her daughter Teresa Beatty (nee Bowen); her granddaughter, Danielle Smith (nee Beatty); and her great-grandson, Landon Smith.

Daughter, Sister, and Aunt...

Born to Joseph H. Sweeney and Ellen Fox Sweeney in Upper Darby, PA, “Meme” is also survived by her sister Mary, her brother Paul and many nieces and nephews.

Student, Professional, and Volunteer...

She attended St. Laurence School in Upper Darby, PA and wore many hats throughout her life. She was a homemaker, data entry at National Liberty in Malvern, PA, technician with Burroughs in California and ended her working years as a business owner. “Meme” also volunteered at Paoli Hospital in her younger years.

A Love of All Things...

“Meme’s” family always came first and she was fiercely loyal to her loved ones. In addition to her love of family, she also loved: British mysteries, long days in the garden, reading and crushing on Harry Bosch novels. She enjoyed relaxing and watching Hallmark movies ALL YEAR LONG, was a Philadelphia Phillies fan, enjoyed keeping a clean and tidy home, and looked forward to decorating for each holiday with much imagination while Christmas being her favorite time.

She had a special love for her pets, especially her cats who became just like another family member. “Meme” loved sharing stories of her childhood and left you wishing you could have known her then and have been her friend in her younger years. She loved to laugh and had a sense of silliness that she has passed down to those closest to her.

“Meme” believed in being fashionable while on a budget and would look at magazines to get ideas of clothes that she would like to have. She prayed daily and spoke with God in every moment. Her faith ran deep.

Friends and families are invited to celebrating “Meme’s” Life on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 10AM at SS Philip and James, Ship Road and Lancaster Avenue, Exton PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in “Meme’s” name to the American Heart Association and the Paoli Hospital Foundation.

“Goodnight, see ya tomorrow!”
